Engineering is the single largest job category in Saudi Arabia on Servia right now -- and it is really two different markets wearing one label. Here is what the real listings show about who is hiring and what they want.
The single biggest hiring category in the Gulf right now, by the numbers
Across Servia's live GCC inventory of just over 5,000 real, currently active job listings, Saudi Arabia carries more engineering vacancies than any other single country-category combination on the platform: 428 active roles tagged Engineering, ahead of the UAE's 369. Add the two together and Engineering is the second-largest job function GCC-wide, behind only senior/executive postings -- but unlike executive roles, engineering hiring is heavily specialist and genuinely open to international applicants.

Two different engineering markets wearing one label
Pull the real, currently open Saudi Engineering listings apart by title and a clear split appears. One cluster is giga-project and infrastructure delivery: civil, structural, electrical and site engineering roles tied to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 construction pipeline. The other is software and IT engineering: backend, full-stack, DevOps, infrastructure and AI engineering roles at Saudi tech and e-commerce companies. A smaller remainder covers engineering-adjacent titles in other sectors entirely -- hotel chief engineers, QA managers, engineering directors in policy and programme roles -- which is worth knowing before you assume every 'engineer' listing is technical in the software sense.
On the giga-project side, the companies with the most currently open roles are exactly the firms actually delivering Saudi Arabia's mega-developments: JASARA PMC (64 open roles), Eram Talent (57, a recruitment firm sourcing for multiple giga-project clients), HanmiGlobal Saudi (44), Egis Group (33) and Qiddiya Investment Company itself (30). Titles here include Superstructure Engineer, Civil Engineer (Pavement -- Airport experience), Lead Civil Engineer, Site Manager and Director - Digital Engineering.
On the software/tech side, the real hirers right now include TAWANTECH (18 open roles, several explicitly IT infrastructure and banking-systems focused), Nagarro (13), Ninja (12, the delivery-logistics company), Salla (8, an e-commerce platform vendor) and Delivery Hero (7). Titles here include Senior Backend Engineer, Senior AI Engineer, Network & Infrastructure Engineer and GIS Full-Stack .NET Developer -- a genuinely modern software stack, not legacy IT-support work.

Qiddiya -- the entertainment and giga-project city southwest of Riyadh -- is separately named in around one in eighteen listings, reflecting Qiddiya Investment Company's own direct hiring plus contractors staffed against that specific site. The Eastern Province (Dammam/Khobar) and Jeddah each appear in a handful of listings; NEOM is named only rarely in this specific Engineering slice, so do not assume it dominates the numbers the way media coverage might suggest.
Onsite work is overwhelmingly the norm: 427 of the 428 active Saudi engineering listings are onsite, with a single remote posting. If you need location flexibility, this is a market to negotiate relocation terms for, not one to expect a remote-first arrangement from.

Salary reality: what Servia's data actually shows
Be direct with yourself about this: none of the 428 active Saudi Arabia engineering listings on Servia currently disclose a numeric salary figure in the posting itself -- a real gap compared with some UAE listings, where a portion of roles do state a range (see our Gulf salary guide for the UAE roles that do). Do not treat the absence of a published number as a sign the roles pay poorly; giga-project and specialist technical roles in Saudi Arabia are commonly compensated with a base salary plus housing, transport and, for relocating hires, flight and school allowances that never show up in a headline figure.
