Inspector - Material
About the role
• Inspect and verify all construction materials delivered to site to ensure compliance with RTA specifications, approved material submittals, and contract requirements. • Check material source approvals, delivery notes, batch certificates, and test reports prior to acceptance and use at site. • Carry out sampling and witnessing of laboratory and field tests for soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel, and other civil materials as per approved ITPs. • Ensure materials used for roadworks, bridges, culverts, drainage, and utility works conform to approved specifications and drawings. • Monitor storage, handling, and protection of materials to prevent contamination, segregation, or damage. • Verify compliance with RTA-approved suppliers, manufacturers, and testing laboratories. • Coordinate with the Material Engineer and Site Engineer regarding testing schedules, approvals, and material-related issues. • Inspect asphalt paving, concrete works, earthworks, and backfilling to ensure correct materials and workmanship are used. • Review and submit Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) related to materials and civil works. • Maintain accurate inspection records, test results, and material logs for QA/QC and as-built documentation. • Identify non-conforming materials, raise NCRs and site observations, and follow up on corrective actions. • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, especially during material handling, sampling, and testing activities. • Monitor material usage and quantities to avoid wastage, misuse, or deviation from approved specifications. • Assist in RTA inspections and audits, providing required documentation and site support. • Report daily site activities, material inspections, and testing status to the Material Engineer / Resident Engineer. Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma Holders with relevant education background RTA or DM Approval holder is must
